Emphasis on the application of mammographic and sonographic techniques in breast cancer detection and diagnosis is highlighted in each series of lectures.

This activity is designed for the clinical radiologist who practices general diagnostic radiology including breast imaging. Emphasis on MRI and safety issues are included, and hot topics such as staging of the axilla and the importance of DCIS are addressed.

Interventional Radiology Review is an intensive program designed as a review of both basic vascular and non-vascular interventional radiologic procedures, as well as emerging areas of interventional radiologic practice. This activity covers all common interventional radiologic procedures and focuses on indications, pre-procedural assessment, technical aspects of the procedure, as well as post-procedural follow-up.

This review activity is now available in video on DVD or MP4 formats and should be suitable for radiologists actively practicing interventional radiology and individuals desiring a comprehensive review prior to taking re-certification examinations or the certificate of added qualification.

The Allegheny General Hospital recently conducted the Pittsburgh Breast Imaging course. This activity is now available in two video formats to meet your needs — DVD and MP4.

This nationally recognized annual seminar is offered for radiologists, surgeons, radiologists-in-training, mammography technologists, and ultrasound technologists who have an interest in breast ultrasound. The activity is designed to provide an update in breast imaging techniques, including routine mammography, breast ultrasound, and MRI of the breast. This year’s course focuses on breast intervention, MRI of the breast, MRI biopsy techniques, and digital mammography. Digital tomosynthesis, PET specific for breast screening, and Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) will be highlighted.

Associate Professor of Human Oncology at Drexel University College of Medicine and Associate Director of the Allegheny Breast Care Center at the Division of Breast Imaging, Allegheny General Hospital, William R. Poller, MD, FACR, is the course director.

Ob/Gyn and Abdominal Sonography will provide updates for standard practices in abdominal, obstetrical, gynecologic, and vascular sonography.

Obstetrical topics include twin gestations; significance of borderline findings in obstetrical sonograms and emphasis on particularly difficult topics such as the fetal heart, cervix, intra-uterine growth restriction is addressed.

Gynecologic topics include some of the more common clinical topics such as imaging of patients with abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain and multimodality approach to uterine pathologies.

Adult abdomen topics include liver masses, new observations in gallbladder sonography and the best way to survey peritoneal spaces.

Vascular topics include suggestions for improving your Doppler examination from a technical perspective, improved interpretation of Carotid Doppler sonograms and a multimodality approach to renovascular imaging.

Evolving technology improves radiological practice through improved image quality for anatomical interpretation and generation of functional data. The use of MDCT and fast, multi-phase imaging sequences also translates to a tremendous increase in data that requires review and handling and greater need for contrast and radiation safety awareness. This activity targets the community radiologist involved in body and cardiovascular imaging with a focus on developing an efficient workflow practice in the modern imaging environment.

The State-of-the-Art Imaging and Interventional Radiology program provides an in-depth review of vascular imaging and interventional radiology, as well as exploring important new developments that have occurred or are about to make the transition from the bench top to clinical practice. Leading experts from UCLA and premier departments across the country and around the world present cutting edge information on interventional oncology, peripheral vascular disease, stroke, AVM therapies, and pain management.

A significant portion of this activity is dedicated to advanced imaging of vascular disorders. Faculty provide a practical approach to each therapeutic modality and offer useful tools participants will be able to incorporate into their daily practice.

This activity is relevant to interventional radiologists, neuro-interventional radiologists, and radiologists whose day-to-day practice involves vascular imaging or various aspects of intervention.

Stephen T. Kee, MD, Associate Professor of Radiological Sciences and Chief of Interventional Radiology at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is the course chair.

Within this term lies a range of capabilities spanning the gamut from 3D imaging, CT angiography to virtual imaging. Applications like CT angiography, virtual colonoscopy and 3D orthopedic imaging are becoming more mainstream and new applications like coronary CTA and runoff studies promise to be the next frontier in CT scanning. This program addresses the principles, exam techniques, and clinical applications in 3D imaging and CT angiography with a special focus on new applications like cardiac CTA.

This program is designed as a state-of-the-art update on all facets of sports medicine imaging for the radiologist, orthopaedic surgeon, and sports medicine physician. Didactic lectures on imaging of the spine and all articulations are provided. In addition, current thinking on musculoskeletal pediatrics, musculoskeletal ultrasound, cartilage, and post-operative imaging of the shoulder, knee, and wrist are featured. This course also provides panel discussions and interesting case sessions.

MDCT and MR Update: Body and Musculoskeletal Imaging program features helical multi-detector row CT (MDCT) and MRI as it applies to diseases in the chest, abdomen and pelvis, and musculoskeletal system. Newer and established cross-sectional methods are discussed. For MDCT, emphasis is placed on high-resolution chest CT, the diagnosis of pulmonary artery and aortic abnormalities, lung cancer and the solitary nodule, and use of multiplanar reformations (MPRs) for abdomen and pelvis. The use of neutral oral contrast material and proper timing of intravenous contrast agent with fast scanning is emphasized. For MRI, state-of-the-art techniques are addressed; especially, breath-hold imaging and its results. The diagnostic challenge of assessing manifestations of various focal and diffuse conditions in the liver is addressed with MDCT and MRI. Incidental lesions discovered on thin-section MDCT and their clinical significance is analyzed.

Musculoskeletal MRI is one of the few musculoskeletal imaging courses designed for both the beginner and the advanced practitioner in musculoskeletal MRI. The basic fundamentals of imaging, as well as the more sophisticated techniques are presented in this musculoskeletal video course. Up-to-date imaging protocols are taught, as well as imaging pitfalls to ensure that you properly identify musculoskeletal injuries. Particular attention is placed on the more commonly requested exams, such as the knee, shoulder, and ankle.

During the Breast Imaging component of this course, the practicing radiologist will become familiar with mammographic technique and the various adjunctive methods available to diagnose breast disease. These methods include ultrasound, MRI, spectroscopy, and interventional procedures. The radiologist will learn helpful algorithms to better direct the diagnostic workup. Management and follow-up review for highrisk lesions will be discussed. The value of the integrated approach to breast health will be emphasized.
